Ikorodu has lost a prominent son and a retired Council Administrator, Dr. Olasunkanmi Odesanya, popularly called, “Steepy” by family members, friends and admirers.
Dr Odesanya, a Chartered Accountant, who retired as a Director, Ministry of Finance, Lagos State, about three years ago died today, at the age of 63.
THE IMPACT gathered that he died after a brief illness and has since been buried.

Dr Odesanya was born into the family of Odesanya of Itunpate in Ikorodu. He bagged his Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Accounting from Ambrose Ali University, Ekpoma, Edo State and Masters of Science (M.SC) from the University of Lagos, Akoka.
He obtained Doctorate Degree (PhD.) Accounting from the Babcock University, Ilisan, Remo, Ogun State, where his research focused on accounting and ethics related to the quality of financial reporters of quota companies in Nigeria.
He was the Head of Finance and Accounts Department of Lagos Mainland Local government (2003 – 2005), Imota Local Council Development Area (2009 – 2013), Ajeromi Ifelodun Local Government (2013 – 2015), Alimosho Local Government (2016) and also served as the Head of Administration/Council Manager in Ikorodu North Local Council Development Area and other council areas.

He was a member of Institute of Secretaries and Administrators of London, Chartered Institute of Management Accountants of London and Association of Chartered Certified Accountants of London.
He was also a member of the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN) and the Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM).
